Since my prom is tommorow i figured i probablyyyy won't have time to post anything. So i've been sitting here still caffienated off a dulche de leche latte & searching through style diaries. I picked a few of my favorite users and outfits. Let me just comment about how much I love this website! I love to look back on all my old outfits and see how much my style has changed. I take pictures pretty religiously every day unless my outfits looking a little bland. My boyfriend is so used to it by now when i ask him to snap a picture of my outfit before I go out, it's really pretty funny. This site is like an online street style library. There are users from all over the world with such great unique style. It's a major inspiration to any fashion lover to see soo many perspectives on style. Say Aloha to Hawaiian Style

Okay, so maybe this isn't necessarily a trend, but almost every summer Hawaiian styles come back into the trend forecast. I live in Florida so we can literally get away with this almost year round. When i was in middle school while all my peers were shopping at Abercrombie and American Eagle my wardrobe insisted entirely of Roxy, Billabong, and Hurley.. I was a little wannabe surfer girl. Ever since I've actually been to Hawaii i've been inspired by the locals' laidback attitude towards clothing. The clothing can be bohemian, bold, and always comfy. B.T.W. that Maui Babe Browning Lotion i have up top is amazingggg. The quickest way to a dark hawaiian tan, although probably not the safest (skin cancer=yikes!).

Rosie the Riveter: Fashion's next ispiration?

Turbans were all over the runway at Prada's S/S 2007 show and have sparked editorials in almost every major fashion magazine featuring the interesting headpiece. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have been the latest celebrities seen working the new trend. The trend stems back from the twenties and made another recurrence in the fifties during World War II when women wore them while working in the factories. Several stores have been selling the full turban and headband versions and few have been brave enough to sport them in the real world. I'm dying to get one because they're just so unique and for $6.00 the forever 21 turban/headband is an easy way to try out the trend without spending thousands on the infamous prada turban.

It IS easy to be green

Maptotes is a new line of totes created by fashion stylist Rachel Rheingold and cartographer Michael Berick. The two combined their passion for travel, maps, and design to create the maptote bags emblazoned with neighborhood maps and doodles of famous landmarks of popular travel destinations. At $12 a bag, and multiple ways to use it, you're hard pressed to find a better bargain! The bag is composed of cotton so it's also a cute & trendy way to "go green". On a domino magazine blog post they mentioned that they plan on making more cities soon, particularly in europe.. can't wait! The bags are available at http://www.maptotes.com . So check it out!

Prep School

I've always liked Reese Witherspoon since her Legally Blonde & Cruel Intentions days. Although she's not known for her daring fashion choices her everyday style is great & easy to recreate. She looks better than she did when she was a teenager yet she knows how to dress age appropriately and this is something I'd even wear. What a perfect summer outfit for running errands or grabbing coffee with the girls! I love the touch of preppiness it has and eyelet is hot for this summer. By taking off the cardigan it would be easy to go from day to night with this outfit.

Adventures in the Big City

So, I just got home from a crazy trip to New York with my sister and aunt. I honestly didn't love the city, i was kind of suprised. Everyone built it up for me & told me how much i would adore it. I think I had such high expectations that they just couldnt be met or something. The weather was pretty cruddy the whole time we were there (highs in the 40s and rainy) & i had an extremely rude encounter with some guy at starbucks.

A few positive highlights of the trip were:
-We were right in times square which had its pros and cons (I would have rather seen less touristy areas of the city).

-The American Museum of Natural History (i'm a dork i know)

-Gorgeous outrageously overpriced department stores and unique boutiques

-Legally Blonde on Broadway (SOO cute!)

-Canal Street (I know buying fakes is so cheesy but I couldn't help myself)

-Yummy food! (Alice's Tea Cup=ADORABLE tea shop!)

-The Naked Cowboy (funniest thing ever!)

Anyhow.. it was an interesting trip to say the least. Next time I go hopefully I'll get to see more of the city.

The Big Apple

Kate Moss' highly awaited debut at british store TopShop is quickly approaching. I thought it was hillarious when I read that she signed on to do the collection because of how much the chain tries to imitate her style & sell it to their patrons. If you haven't seen the collection yet you have to check it out. From the looks of the collection it might be able to live up to the hype its been given by the media. Here's a few of my favorite looks..

"At price points from $20 for a tank top to $200 for dresses, the Kate Moss collection is priced below Co-op price points, where dresses are often more than $200 and could cost as much as $700. Barneys has no intention to generally widen its range with lower prices at Co-op. "Sometimes you make an exception for something unique," Gilhart said. "This is the first time Kate has done anything, and we feel she is a part of our store. She was working with Corrine Day when Corrine shot our campaign in the early Nineties."Some things feel vintage-y and feminine, and others are edgier and cool," she added of the collection. Who's That Girl?

Who's That Girl? Harley Viera Newton

If you havent heard of the infamous "Harley" yet then its about time you do. This N.Y./L.A/London girl has fabulous style, connections, and talent. She's in a band called the Tints, dated someone from Maroon 5, has been in teen vogue several times, and is an amateur photographer. She's often seen around fashion shows and with the cobra snake photogs.

Nu Rave Fever

The Nu Rave (or Neu Rave) is taking Europe by storm. The style has actually evolved from the genre of music by the same name. Club styles in neon and fluorescent colors have stepped out of the clubs and onto the streets and have even started to find their way into designer's collections and everyday street style.

Carrie Mundane of Cassette Playa, is one of the popularizers of this trend as she brings eclectic, crazy prints to the runway. I think in small doses this trend is kind of fun. I never shy away from bright colors. For a more toned down Nu Rave look try wearing one neon piece on its own combined with neutral colors to brighten up an outfit. I also love the quirky cute accessories which add a little fun to an everyday style. This is expected to be a big upcoming trend and you'll slowly start to see it appear in stores as summer reveals clothing and accessories in bright shocking hues.

Sequin and Sparkle

A trend i'm loving right now is sequins! I used to think this style was only for outdated eighties clothing and pageant dresses but new styles are incorporating sequins with a much more stylish, modern twist. Right now sequins are showing up on everything from bathing suits to shoes to entire dresses. Don't want to drop near $500 on such an ephemeral trend? check out local thrift stores for leftover sequined dresses from the eighties. My local shop has tons; all it takes is a bit of reconstruction (shortening of the hem perhaps removing a gaudy embelishment) and voila! This trend is not for the conservative.. but it's perfect for a night out on the town and you'll be sure to catch everyone's attention.
