Peek-A-Boo

Sometimes bras are sort of a taboo subject for fashion blogs, but, I just bought the cutest lacy bra last week and I've been having lots of Carrie Bradshaw moments with it. Like last week, I wore this pink silk dress and had it peek out the back . It looked a lot like the girl from the Sartorialist; just the perfect bit of flirtaciousness without looking trashy.

The visible bra is going to be a big trend for this fall! It was everywhere from runways (Miu Miu and Proenza Schouler) to red carpets (Paris Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld). It's definitely one of those riskier trends that could easily border on the scandalous side but if done right is really very pretty. It's a nice skin baring alternative to midriffs and low rider jeans.

Would you ever wear a lacy peek-a-boo bra look?

  1. You're right about it being a pretty look if done right, but if done wrong it could be disastrous. On the way to work last week, I spotted a girl wearing a white bra under a sheer white blouse. That wouldn't be so bad except that it was obvious her bra was riding up the back and didn't fit her properly!

  2. It really depends on how you wear it, no? I mean it can look completely trashy or uber-sophisticated depending on how you have worn it.
I, however, don't think this trend is for me.

  3. Love the Miu Miu look.
    I agree with CC, actually.
While Rumi of Fashiontoast can look wonderfully Cali chic that way, some just look trashy.

  4. Definitely. But I don't have the right items for such outfit yet.

  6. i would definitely wear a peek-a-boo bra if it was interesting enough, but i wouldn't show it if it was just an ordinary one. haha

  7. I bought a vintage lace bralette from my city's downtown district & plan to wear it with some tissue tees, and possibly peeking out from a cardigan during fall. I agree that if done tastefully, the look is very Sartorialist-esque and not at all trashy.
    Tres chic post!

  8. As long as it's done right, I think it can be a very romantic look; however, I don't think I'd wear it. That's just me. :)

  12. Visible bras are a touchy subject. I think they work super well in the fashion world, but in real life, I don't know how realistically they translate. Sure, they're cute for going out, but is it really a daytime look? Hmm...

  14. I think I'll be happy to leave this trend for someone else to wear... great on the runway, but in the street... nah. Love these pictures, though.

  16. Hmm so tricky to pull off! Depends on your fashion climate, like whether people will accept it or not? I've been trying to work up courage to wear a blazer/lacy bra/leather mini combo to the club, but I think it would be a bit much for my city - maybe for Vegas?
