Heal-ing Power

How cool is this animated lookbook shot from Heal Fashion Lab? The surrealist styles are by French design duo Alice and Herve, who are anything but the typical Parisian style. I can easily see other fashion lines taking on this innovative approach to the run of the mill lookbook. It adds such great visual interest to already quirky cute clothes! Perhaps the future of fashion in action..?

Bondi Brights

How adorable is Abbey Lee Kershaw on this cover of Vogue Australia? It's immediately making me want to:

A. Paint my nails with sea foam green polish

B. Pucker up my pout with some coral shade lipstick

C. Put some colorful streaks in my hair

What a great use of color hmm? It's making me crave spring style right now.

Would you rock the bright & bold colors on the cover?

Did Ya Know?

The lovely Aury tagged me for the Haute Mess award on her blog! It's always fun to learn more about your fellow fashion bloggers! So here goes..

1. I studied abroad over the summer and now i'm dying to go back to Europe! (I especially fell in love with Paris and Barcelona). I love immersing myself in other cultures.

2. I could seriously eat Dole Pineapple soft serve ice cream every day (this probably has to do with my hawaii love; see below)

3. I love theme parties! This has been the year of 21st birthdays for all my friends (80s prom.. back to the future.. hawaiian luau) & love going all out decorating & planning.

4. I'm a Hawaiian girl at heart; i've visited twice and explored all the islands. Its my favorite place on earth. I even have a tattoo that says "Pa'a Kou Mo'Okaulike" (keep your balance).

5. I'm obsessed with street style pictures-- I'm even going to institute a new installment on La Petite Fashionista featuring outfits from readers all over the globe (send me your pictures if you'd like to be featured!).

I'd love to read everyone's "about me's", so let me know if you post it on your blog!

Sultry Snake Prints

Snakes have long been known as a symbol of transformation. I feel like the last couple of years I've been doing a lot of soul searching & finding out exactly what I want to do with my life. It's exciting really!

The slithery reptiles are making their mark all over fashion; python print; wrap-around snake rings, and paris vogue fashion editorials. They have such an air of beauty, sultriness, and mystery.

Are you wild for snake prints, or are they a little too creepy crawly?

Spring into Style Giveaway

I'm a huge fan of all things turqupoise colored & natural looking so when PONO Annex offered to do a giveaway on La Petite Fashionista, of course I picked their adorable "Handa" Necklace. I can see it easily fitting into any spring wardrobe. I paired it with a surfer girl shirt & vintage fringed boots. I love that designer Joan Goodman's jewelry is inspired in part by her life in Hawaii & the environment. The piece reminds me of stones polished smooth by the ocean.

To win this necklace, all you have to do is: leave a comment on this post, for an extra entry, follow Pono on twitter, for a third opportunity follow my blog!

This contest is open to EVERYONE (i'm shipping it out myself) & will end 1/28 @ midnight!

xoxo, Lauren

P.S. Just read that "pono" is Hawaiian for goodness. Ah, i love it even more.

Uptown Chic Meets Downtown Cool

I've been a bit behind at keeping up with all the pre-fall collections & finally had some free time to peruse them. I fell for DVF's collection of polished luxury mixed with oversized sweaters and handbags. I could totally see myself wearing any of these ensembles. I think I need that blue silky romper AND those sequined shorts. Oh so lovely.

Haute Hippie

I took Modelinia's Style Profile Quiz & got Modern Boho.I'd have to say it fits me pretty perfectly!

Your style is a simple and relaxed laid-back look. Defined by an earthy femininity, the modern boho is inspired by bohemian and hippie influences. The key is achieving a messy, yet put together look. Elements of this style include loose fitting layers, long tunics, fringe or beading details, ethnic-inspired accessories, and lots of bangles. These models also share your fashion sense: Gisele Bundchen, Marisa Miller, Cindy Crawford, Brooklyn Decker, Erin Wasson, Kate Moss, Heidi Klum, Jessica Stam.

Take Modelinia's Style Profile Quiz & tell me what your style profile is & if you think it fits you!

Siren of the Scarf

This morning while waiting for my P.R. class to start I was flipping through my Harper's Bazaar when I stumbled upon this Hermes ad. Instantly it took me from a blah winter to day to a sunny tropical isle. Karlie Kloss looks like some sort of mermaid with her rapunzel braid & pillow of scarves. I love an advertisement's ability to take you to make you daydream.

On a random side note, I've heard covering your pillows with silk scarves or pillowcases does wonders for your hair!

Looking Cute When its Cold

With the sudden cold front that's hit Florida this month, I've been faced with adapting my wardrobe to below freezing temperatures! I'm sure it sounds silly to those of you who have real winters every year, but my poor little closet is running out of options!

I've come up with a few solutions to looking cute in the cold & would love some advice from all of you!

  • Dress in layers; when you get inside, you can have a fabulous outfit under your ski jacket.
  • Put leggings on underneath tights to sport your favorite pairs despite the temperatures.
  • Scarfs actually do help warm you up, and this year they've become trendy too, so there are tons of stylish options.
  • Wear jean leggings for pants that are easy to tuck into boots (J. Brand makes a great pair & theres tons of cheaper options at discount stores).
  • DRINK HOT COFFEE. that's my favorite ;)
Please leave me your suggestions for looking cute in the cold for this newbie to freeeezing weather!

La Belle Vie

This lookbook for Candadian line, d a c e, is so gorgeous. All the images remind me of my adventures exploring Paris this summer (minus the cute french boy?). The clothes are perfectly parisian; effortless pieces with flirtacious undertones. Even those retro sunglasses & super model waves are amazing. LOVE.

So far the new year is going great; been taking lots of fun fitness classes, scored the dream summer internship, and i'm enjoying my classes! How is everyone else doing?

Start of Something New

I have huge exciting news to share with everyone! I had a big interview a couple of days ago for a summer internship.. and I'm super excited to tell everyone that i'll be spending the summer interning at the Lands' End headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin as a merchandising intern! I'm so excited for this awesome opportunity!

In honor of my summer internship, I wanted to show you some of their newly designed Canvas line. It features the classic designs Lands' End is known for with a modern twist. Check them out for button downs in every style imaginable, effortless denim, & adorably preppy accessories.

Secrets of Smart Shopping

As much as I love shopping there are few things that make me more giddy than a great deal. After working retail and fashion blogging for a few years I've picked up a few tricks of the trade to being a smart shopper.

  1. Evaluate your closet: When you've got a tight shopping budget, this will ensure that you come home with a piece that works with your wardrobe; no buyer's remorse!
  2. Join a sample sale site: HauteLook & Gilt Groupe are great resources for those who are looking for a good deal on designer duds.
  3. Make friends with the sales associates: Befriend the salespeople at your favorite store. They'll let you know when sales are coming up & can be a vital connection to have. It's a mutually beneficial friendship!
  4. Shop at discount stores: It's such a badge of honor saying you scored a really amazing deal. I don't think I ever leave Marshalls & TJ Maxx empty handed.
  5. Look at websites before going into the store: This way you'll have an idea of what items to look for & can go in with a plan rather than trying on everything that catches your eye.
  6. Get free shipping: The major downside to online shopping is paying shipping-- so when free shipping codes are available, take advantage! My favorite site is
  7. Stalk the Sales: Keep checking back in-store and online to see what new markdowns are being taken. has a great search feature on their site to organize items by price or % discount.

I hope my tips help some of you savvy shoppers out. I'd love to hear your favorite secret to smart shopping as well!
