Back in Time Orient Watch Giveaway

Flashback to 7th grade.. my "boyfriend" of the time, let me wear his big, silver watch around, sort of a modern day varsity jacket I suppose. I look back and laugh now at how goofy we were. I never realized all these years later I'd still love the look of an oversized men's watch on my wrist! It's one of my favorite go-to accessories. It perfectly balances my overtly girly style.

Nowdays, I'm an independent woman haha, but I don't need a boyfriend to rock his watch. Fine watch retailer, Orient is giving away one of their Orient Diver watches to a lucky La Petite Fashionista reader!

To win the watch featured, leave in the comments a favorite flashback fashion moment (what was your style like back in the day?). (this contest is open to US readers & will end on 2/15/10 at midnight e.s.t.)

-Get an extra entry for tweeting about the contest or posting it on your blog!

xoxo, lauren

For some god foresaken reason, at my middle school, overalls were all the rage. Yes, Even the short ones. It was ridiculous.

In middle school, I actually wore black wedges with rubber flowers all over them. Yea, embarassing but I was the only girl in heels :)

I'd love to win this...
humm.. my style back in the 90's was mostly wearing a lot of hats!.. I've always had a crush on them... hats, baggy pants, converse, striped tees, metalic blue nail polish.. oh and remember those tops with metalic prints.. like melting steel and stuff?.. so cher horowitz!

Back in the day, I rocked the stonewashed jeans and huge, oversized t shirts! Oh, and lets not forget the sky high bangs...Thank god there is almost no photographic evidence of that dark time in my fashion past!

Back in the day... I was so firmly opposed to fashion I refused to wear anything but baggy jeans and black t-shirts with "witty" sayings on them. Thank goodness I grew out of that one!

At the ripe old age of 18, I'd have to say that my most intriguing fashion period was when I was 8 going on 9 and decided to do a last wear of all my pretty, frilly, baby doll dresses by wearing them everyday of the week, to school and to Everywhere else. Looking back, I probably looked like I was a kindergartener that got lost in the 4th grade hallway. Thankfully there is no photographic evidence so I'm hoping this was a dream.

P.S. I'm tweeting the contest. :)

My all time fave flashback fashion moment was my kindergarten picture day outfit - my uncle was a fashion designer and he made me an outfit - a purple (a la prince - it was 1985) tuxedo complete with tails and I wore patent leather red shoes - I was the hautest little girl ever - I LOVED that outfit and that moment was day I fell in love with fashion and being an individual - unfortunately he and I do not have a relationship for various reasons but I love that he gave me that gift - that feeling of being comfortable in your own skin - even if it's bad eighties fashion...

How about - I was wearing skinny jeans waaaaaay before it was back in style. I believe they were called "tapered" at the time. I was the tallest, scrawniest girl in middle school, and I rocked the hell out of those awful pants!

Oh, and can we say fountain ponytail? Yeahhhh - that thing cascaded straight down from the top of my geeky little head!

Oh, middle school! I wore waayy too tight jeans with little graphic tees... and big giant skateboarding shoes -- I didn't even skateboard! Oh! And there was a point that I wore glitter for eyeshadow.. I think Charlotte Russe sold it and EVERYONE wore it. I don't know how I didn't hurt my eyes!

Goodness gracious, it's scary to think how I used to dress back then. haha. But in middle school I would wear alot of Roxy, Hurley & those popular skateboarding shoes back then called Osiris. haha. In High School, I wore mostly urban brands. Baby Phat, Ecko Red. I also wore alot of sneakers.

Thanks for the chance!

Ooh, fabulous giveaway! Do hairstyles count? When I was about five my mother would use a curling iron to do this bizarre teased/flip thing with my bangs that made me look utterly ridiculous. I can hardly look at pictures of me sporting that 'do without wanting to die!! :)

Oh my flashback fashion moments often surprise me...I remember that in 8th grade I used to paint my nails all sorts of colors and patterns, using toothpicks to get a finer point than the polish brush...yellow lemons, confetti glitter, "BSB" for the Backstreet Boys (haha), red with black Mickey Mouse's for when we vacationed to Florida. My favorite though was snakeskin made from metallic purple undercoat and gold spots. I even pressed each nail with a piece of mesh to get texture. I might just resurrect that one someday!

thanks for the giveaway! this is pretty amazing! xx

In first grade off-the-shoulder anything was very hip. I remember stretching out my shirt and dress neck to get that look, even if it meant falling off! I'm guessing Belle's dress from Beauty and the Beast was on my inspiration board.

I used to get the second pick of the hand-me-downs after my cousin. She passed up these dark navy denim bell bottoms with white stitchting and white embroidered pockets. Kind of like True Religion, but better. I'd rock a small white tee or tank with chunky platforms. Oh, how I wanted to live in the late 60s!

So... I might be horribly dating myself... but the HUGE trend in middle-school were several layers of rolled-down (NOT pushed down) Tubesocks in different colors! The real kicker was each foot had to have different colors! I REALLY don't want to see that style come back! Ick.

Oh the horrors!- Bright (think primary colors) baggy pants, loose shapeless T-sirts with cutsey stuff on them. UGH!

Let's see... I definitely remember wearing a black leotard with jeans in elementary school. Things went downhill in middle school... ugh I have horrible images of wearing doc martens and shapeless khaki pants that were too short. I'm seriously cringing at the thought of 6th grade me... I am SO grateful that I grew out of the awkward phase!

My "back in the day" was the '80s! I was Durnaie (Duran Duran) and had BIG hair, leggings, Candies (the ONLY heel I could / would wear), and a SWATCH watch for every day of the week!

I'd love a new watch -- my SWATCH doesn't work any more!

it's pretty funny that the fashion I wore in the early 90s is coming back. My fav outfit in middle school was leggings, an oversize off-the-shoulder sweater and Converse. And now I can wear it again! Still have the Converse too.

Wow I feel like an old lady! Thank G-D there's a few other's whose "back in the day" was the 80's! Tho whatever the era I've always hated to blend in; One of my fave 80's looks was "overdyed" denim-I had sortof an aqua-green Girbaud pair that nobody else had, which I'd rock with the Flashdance-style Guess tee or sweatshirt, electric-blue suede ankle boots & an asymetrical bob haircut...That was jr.high. My look in HS evolved thru a sorta new-wave goth/hippy thing. My fave look from then + the early 90's that I still wear is a minidress over skinny pants. I'm loving this watch tho-I used to wear my stepdad's big Gold Movado too:-)

my favorite fashion moment was in 4th grade. those were the Limited Too whackness days.

I had on plaid olive green pants and a muted yellow short sleeved turtleneck shirt that matched some of the plaid stripes. I also put on a pair of cream leather shoes with a slight wooden heel to them that were very reminiscent of the 1920s. I left my hair down and put on little gold earring studs and a that day with my birthstone and an olive handband. It sounds grotesque but I know that I could never get away with something like that these days and it was so much fun to put the look together. It was actually the first time my mom let me pick out my outfit for school so I remember it quite vividly :) oh boy!

I used to love wear stuff from my middle school boyfriend, too. His watch and sweatshirt were almost always part of my ensemble!

For me, those years were all about the hollister tees and making it look like you went to the beach just before your first class of the morning. My style with that always had a tomboy flair, to me.

I used to just stick to jeans and a shirt. Really drab and boring. I wish I could've changed that.

When I was in kindergarten, my mom forced me to wear a purple velvet dress with small white flowers on it picture day...but I was wearing a long sleeve, boy's shirt underneath it. Oops.

Now, because of school, my style is casual and simple. I always like wearing watches though.

In the 80s, I LOVED my ripped-knee light colored Guess jeans and my canary yellow LA Gear hightop tennis shoes. They were so cool! **sigh** I also think I spent an entire summer with my long hair in a single braid hanging over my right shoulder.

Wow, where do we begin ..what flashback era "I have I not lived!lol..In my early years(about 3-4yrs old) I went through my coegirl phase, a very trendy cowgirl red boots and all ..that i would not take of...then at 5 i went boho chic poncho and flowers all the way...then if that wasnt enough at 6 in kindergarten i went through my school uniform phase, (which let me precise I did not go to a school that required or even used or had a uniform ) So I used one from a private school that I did not belong to ...I loved it ...lol...i later wore lime green bell bottom hip huggers with a lace up the middle of the crakc in the back(oh yes i did) and this was not the 70's so you can imagine it was not exactly the style at the time ...but boy did it work!! niddle school loved me!lol...I later moved on to many styles such as the oversized man watch while being ultra feminine ( soon realized my passion for all dresses, I still tend to be a total dress gal even to dress down ) in between all of this i did experiment with ususal , madonna looks ..all of them from fluorescent clothes and rubber bracelets, sockettes with heels and big bows all the way through to pin up a la marilyn monroe!! my love for style , fashion and against the currant started young and has never ended...and i am sure there is somuch more to come...i wonder what flash back comments we will be leaving 10yrs from now!lol...who knows...

Back in the day, I dressed like Tina from Glee (minus the fake stutter). Chunky silver jewelry, torn jeans decorated with sharpie, combat boots lots of black, red streaks in my hair...

And now my style is classic and girly. Ahaha, who would have thought?

I don't know if it's a favorite moment, probably more like an embarrassing moment,:-) was back in the 80's, when I would wear capri length polka dot leggings with an uber baggy t-shirt (which had some sort of puff paint or other "crafty" item or motif on it) that had a round plastic 'doo dad' that I would use to thread the bottom corner of my tee through. Oh yeah, and this round plastic 'doo dad' would also have some sort of crafty decoration on it. :-) Then, if that wasn't bad enough, I would have one, or even two, pairs of very bright colored socks that went up above my ankles, and then would wear white high top sneakers to go with it all. Add on some huge, curly bangs, and a high, side ponytail, and voila! The look is finished. :-)

Man, I can't believe I just confessed all that. :-) I can't believe so many people followed such a bad trend!

Thanks for this giveaway, and for giving me the opportunity to enter! :-)
