Trend Tracking : Street Surfer

As you can see from my past few posts, i'm SUPER excited for spring fashion. I'm particularly fond of a trend emerging that I like to coin the "street surfer" look. It's pretty much exactly the way I love to dress. It's a mix of carefree, beachy batik & bright splashes of color made into structured shapes like button downs or paired with a sturdy platform heel.

It's all about balancing the yin and yang in the outfit; polished shark's teeth on black cord at tory burch, and platform heels with a tie-dye mini dress at Proenza Schouler. I have a feeling my inner surfer girl is going to be quite excited with my spring wardrobe choices!

Are you feeling the street surfer trend or are you sick of the bohemian spin-offs?

  9. I'm not really into the street surfer look myself - I'm more of an original bohemian in terms of style. Though I've got to hand it to you, Lauren...you make it sound appealing!! :)

  11. Mmm...since we on the West Coast are close to the ocean, we have a lot of skater/surfer styles here! Already people are dressing for summer and spring.

  12. Not quite my style at all, but I did like this trend as showcased in the rather infamous Abbey Lee editorial in Aussie Vogue the past month! (:

  13. Although I'm too prissy to dress in such a breezy, bohemian style, I can't help but admire people who can pull it off so effortlessly.

I would wear the platform heels though..... =P

coming from southern california, i also admire the street-surfer look! =D

this reminds me, i should probably pick up some new summer wear next time i'm out shopping! :] (in LA, we go straight from winter ... then to summer. we basically skip spring. =/)

  16. I think the structure of the really extreme surfer-chic pieces is neat (think neoprene). In general, though, I'm not such a big fan of the trend because it seems to be the same style that teen-centered retailers have been hawking for at least the past two decades. There's nothing new in it for me. Zzzz.
Not to mention it seems fundamentally backward that couture designers are looking to Hollister and Pacific Sunwear for inspiration.
