Orange You Glad for Colored Pants?

The colorful pants look has been trending like crazy lately. I've picked myself up a pair of coppery orange pants similar to these and couldn't help but think this could be a mature & stylish nod to Halloween. This look is intimidating, but super wearable. I particularly like the pop of orange, as it's a strong color for Fall 11.

How to: Wear Turquoise Jewelry in Fall

I recently received a reader request for a how-to on wearing turquoise jewelry through the fall. Turquoise is one of my favorite accessories, and occupies a big part of my jewelry box. The trick to wearing this seemingly summery stone is to pair it with fall shades. I especially love it with a copper, or royal purple.
How to: Wear Turquoise Jewelry in the Fall
As always, Pinterest offers some perfect inspiration! (I'm thoroughly addicted to the site!) Check out my turquoise board for more inspiration.

How do you continue to wear your favorite summer jewelry into the fall?

Try this Trend: Striped Sweaters & Chunky Knit Scarves

Inspired by the perfectly preppy Sarah Vickers image I posted a couple of weeks ago, I picked up a striped sweater of my own during my fall shopping ventures. I also picked up some chunky knit accessories, this brown scarf is already one of my fall favorites.

I had the chance to visit a pumpkin patch & go on a hay ride the past weekend. It felt perfectly fall! For some reason I've been opposed to large stripes because of the old rule of thumb of making you look bigger, but in these pretty shades I just couldn't say no!
Would you wear striped sweaters?

Stylish Halloween Costume Inspiration

I'm not one of those costume-in-a-bag type of girls. It's more like.. I need an excuse to buy this crazy trendy item, I might never wear again and therefore will create a Halloween costume around it. For example, this year I've been dying for a pair of totally impractical lace up leather shorts.. and voila, when combined with a packers jersey, knee socks & lace up wedges I'm a football player a la Alexander Wang.
Check out some of my other fashionable Halloween costume inspirations here, many which can be created with pieces already existing in your closet!
Stylish Costume Inspiration: Kate Middleton
For bonus points, find a male counterpart to dress as Prince William in a tailored suit! I love the union jack tote bag to trick or treat with.
Stylish Costume Inspiration: Daisy Buchanan
Accessorizing a sequined or fringed dress with art deco accessories and turban and voila, you're instantly channeling Daisy or any stylish 20's flapper.
Stylish Costume Inspiration: Black Swan
Live out your childhood ballerina dreams in a poufy black dress & lace up ballet flats a la Black Swan. & Check out the Black Swan make-up tutorial via Refinery 29
Stylish Costume Inspiration: Football Player
These are the leather shorts that inspired this year's Halloween costume!
Do you know what you're being this year? Or what's your favorite Halloween ensemble?

Falling for the Midwest

Yesterday was one of those days I realized why I like living in the Midwest so much. My next door neighbor saw me struggling with my self timer in my backyard trying to take outfit pictures for LPF. She was raking big piles of leaves while her kids played. She offered to take some for me, and before I knew it she was directing my photo shoot and even had her 8-year old pointing the leaf blower at me!
Needless to say, I love Wisconsin. I'm grateful for all the nice Midwesterners that have helped me settle into life 1000 miles away from where I grew up!
J. C. Penney also featured me on their Chictopia page in my shearling collar denim jacket from I Heart Ronson which was incredibly exciting.

Can you believe I've never jumped into a pile of leaves before? I've got a lot to catch up on!

Pretty Pumpkins

I don't know if its the crisp fall weather, or the changing leaf colors, or being away from home.. but I've made it my goal to make fall as festive as possible. This obviously includes some pumpkin carving. I tried my hand at carving a monogrammed L, and failed miserably..I'm pretty much the worst pumpkin carver ever. For round 2, I painted a pumpkin & realized it was much easier for me to get the stylish effect I was wanting.
These pumpkins are so inspiring and beautiful; nothing like a regular old jack o'lantern.
I also saw a lot of sparkly, pink, and preppy pumpkins trending. The monogrammed one on the bottom is my final success! I also crafted some gingham bows.
I have lots more stylish fall decorating ideas on my new pinterest board. If you have an account, make sure to follow me to check out my inspiration boards or leave yours in the comments!
Have you done any fall decorating yet?

My Virtual Fall Shopping List

I'm making a much needed shopping trip this weekend (after living in FL my whole life, I have a major shortage of fall/winter clothes!). I decided to make myself a visual shopping list to keep me focused while I'm at the mall- otherwise I have a major weakness for summery minidresses.
These are a couple of the trends & styles I'd love to inject into my fall wardrobe!
What's on your fall shopping list?

KJP: Rewriting the Preppy Handbook

As I was reading the new issue of my favorite, Matchbook Mag I stumbled upon the article on Kiel James Patrick, a New Englander entrepreneur who is bringing back preppy with his equally as beautiful girlfriend, Sarah Vickers. I then remembered that I posted about him a few years back on LPF!
I love that K.J.P. makes all of his products in the USA & the whole Americana, classic prep lifestyle he's built between their blog, tumblr & online store.  I love the peeks inside their closets and home; these images are super inspiring:

I've also compiled my own checklist of preppy attire:
What's your favorite classic preppy piece?

Tricky Trends: Overalls

International retailer,  presented me with the challenge of styling a look around womens jumpsuits. I selected the denim dungarees, because I've seen the look trending lately. I never thought overalls would make a comeback, but they actually can be quite chic when styled in the right way.
Ellos Style Challenge:Overalls
I love the idea of pairing them with heels & a striped sailor tee. These are some of the images that are convincing me to dig out my dungarees:
Would you wear a pair of overalls?

Home Sweet Home

I love this T Magazine editorial with model Lara Stone, photographed in all of her favorite locations of her Netherlands hometown. You can totally tell how comfortable and happy she is in front of the camera at home.
I'm making a trip home to Florida in a few weeks. I couldn't be more excited to cram all my favorite people, food (chick-fil-a much?), college football & sunshine into one action packed weekend!
What is your favorite thing about your hometown?
