Maxi Dresses for Petite Fashionistas

I've always sort of sworn off maxi dresses for petite girls, especially petite curvy girls like myself! But, I saw this striped maxi on a thrifting venture and knew that for a couple of dollars. I couldn't resist test driving the trend! I think a pair of extra high heels are essential to pulling off the look & a little dose of extra confidence doesn't hurt either. I think I'm more of a minidress kind of girl, but i'm always in favor of having fun with fashion trends!

My favorite way to wear a maxi dress is with a waist cinching belt and a cropped denim jacket.  Here is how to get the look:

I love this dress that you are wearing. I am petite and curvy and never really try maxi dresses on because I feel like they wont look good on me but I will def try one next time I see one I like!

I thought the same thing (being a petite and curvy girl)...until I found a solid purple maxi dress from last summer that I LOVE to death! I typically wear mine with a structured-ish and longer cardigan, high heeled sandals, sometimes belted but not always. :)

I tried maxi dresses in the past, but still need to properly try out the trend. I love the one you're wearing.

I totally understand your fear of the maxi. I am 5'5 with a ridiculous pear shape, so naturally I steered away too. I have no idea what changed my mind, but I am kind of in love with anything maxi these days. I think the comfort factor out weighs the oompa loompa factor for me :D

P.S. you look great!!

So glad you stopped by a creative day, it let me find your blog! I'm only 5'2, so this makes me so happy :-) And yes, I LOVE wearing maxi skirts mainly so then I can have definition at the waist so I don't look so short. Love your look here...jealous about the dress find!

i cannot get over how cute you look in this! i have been loving all the maxi dresses i've been seeing but haven't even tried any on since i figured at 5'2 they'd look ridiculous. you've given me some hope, lady!

I haven't commented on your blog yet. We don't really have the same style, yet I keep coming back here, and THIS POST helped me figure out exactly why. I am also petite and curvy, and I love seeing how you make trends that we always see on supermodel-types work for girls shaped differently. That's it! Cute outfit, and keep it up. Thanks!!

Horizontal stripes are not lengthening for a petite girl. This outfit makes you look shorter
