Get the Look: Colorful, Outdoor Entertaining

I never thought I'd see the day where people start rolling down their sun roof when the temperature hits 35 degrees! I can tell spring is in the air, people are slowly starting to break out their open toed heels & grills. One of the things I love most about warm weather is outdoor entertaining- whether dinner for two or a party with your closest friends.

I splurged and bought an outdoor cafe table & chairs last year. I think my patio chairs could definitely use an upgrade to these chic orange chevron canvas chairs from World Market! These are a few of my favorite outdoor entertaining essentials!

These images have me feeling totally inspired, from the colorful mix & match plates & fresh flowers/herbs. You could take elements of all of them and recreate no matter what space you have to work with.

Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair

One of the hair accessory trends I've seen popping up all over the place from editorials, to music festivals, to weddings are floral crowns. I love these over the top floral crowns  paired back to ethereal white gowns & tousled hair.

Try this Trend: Floral Crowns

The full floral crown look can be a little bit intimidating, but these are some equally as gorgeous, but less extreme options that I adore for their boho feel.

Would you try out the floral crown trend? If so, which style is your favorite? I love the idea of sporting one for a bohemian wedding look!

P.S. Speaking of these lovely looks-  be sure to listen to the Lumineer's song: "flowers in your hair"

Inspired by: Reenergizing for Spring

Spring is the time when everything starts to come back to life after a long, cold winter. The snow melts and the flowers start to bloom, and the sun starts to shine a little bit longer everyday. There is something to be said about the season giving new life to nature & a pep in our step.

All of these images seem to perfectly capture the mind/body/soul reenergizing that seems to happen each spring- whether it's a trip to the farmer's market, fresh flowers for the kitchen table, yoga class, an afternoon painting, or dining al fresco with friends.

Inspired by: Re-energizing the Mind, Body, Soul for Spring

After a rough winter I am looking forward to some sunshine and have promised myself not to take one minute for granted this year. I am most looking forward to the Madison farmer's market to re-open in April, as it's one of my favorite spring and summer pasttimes! I love getting outdoors, picking up some local produce, and cooking with fresh ingredients.

What makes you most excited for Spring?

Latest Lust: Spring Sweaters

I am obsessed with lightweight/colorful spring sweaters right now. They're perfect for not-quite-warm-enough-to-wear-sundresses weather. On Friday I wore this lightweight marled yarn pastel sweater & paired with mint jeans, cheveron heels & some fun jewelry (can you tell i have a thing for pineapples yet? ;)

LPF Latest Lust: Spring Sweaters

I've selected a few of my favorite spring sweaters for those in similar situations as me- ready for spring, but the weather not cooperating- these will make the weather a bit more bearable.

I love the colors, intarsia patterns, and peekaboo shoulders of these fine gauge lightweight sweaters. Pair with skinny jeans, a floaty skirt & tights, deliciate necklaces, and some statement earrings.

Latest Lust: DVF Loves Roxy

I was so excited to hear that two of my favorite brands were collaborating and the DVF Loves Roxy Collection did not disappoint! The prints have sort of an 80's California surf scene vibe and the editorial is gorgeous. All of the pieces are so easy to throw on for a day at the beach.

The collaboration's mantra is to "follow your heart and dare", is something I think all of us should keep in mind!

latest lust: dvf <3 roxy

I love the shots of Diane behind the scenes and think the collaboration is a brilliant combination of surf culture and fashion (two of my favorite things)! With beach friendly styling & high fashion prints that DVF is known for.

LPF is Turning Six!

photo credit via butter hearts sugar

I can hardly believe that this week I will have been blogging at La Petite Fashionista for SIX YEARS! What started out as a fun hobby turned into much more! I've made so many blogging friends (real life & blog pals), written over 1,000 posts and my blog has followed me from high school to college to the working world!

Even the blogging world has changed tremendously since I first started writing. I never imagined bloggers would be sitting at the front rows of fashion shows, writing their own books, & changing the face of fashion!

I will also be celebrating my 24th next week.. crazy. I can't believe it's been two years of living in Wisconsin and working in fashion. I am so happy that I've followed my fashion dreams!

Thank you SO much for the support whether you're a longtime reader or new to the blog!

Latest Lust: Chic Carafes

This  weekend the lovely Danielle & Laura hosted a few Wisconsin bloggers (Maya, Fran & Brittany!) for brunch and mimosas. I was totally in love with these gorgeous carafes that held our juices for mixing with champagne. The tags add the perfect DIY touch.

I definitely want to add a couple of carafes to my collection for entertaining and I love the idea of buying fun flavors of juices or mixers to create large batch cocktails too!

It was so fun to get together and talk blogs & life in Wisconsin! If you're blogging from the Midwest as well- shoot us an email  & visit the midwest style bloggers site! We are planning a meet-up and highlighting some of the talent of those blogging from the heartland.

Warby Parker for Work/ for Play/ for Vacay

Today we have a guest post from our friends at Warby Parker! I am a huge fan of the way they've revolutionized shopping for glasses- allowing you try 5 affordable pairs at home to pick your favorite and their "buy a pair, give a pair" philanthropy project! I pulled together some outfits for any occasion wearing Warby Parker.
A truly stylish woman needs to dress appropriately for the activities of the day. A day at the office demands a different look than a day spent running errands or enjoying the great outdoors. Busy women might think it’s overwhelming to plan outfits around a day’s activities, but with the right wardrobe basics, a few accessories and a little organization, you can look great on any occasion.

Warby Parker for Every Occasion
Business Casual Dress
Few terms are more confusing than “business casual.” The key to ideal on-the-job fashion lies in understanding the merger of the terms “business” and “casual.” Faded denim and oversized t-shirts, while casual, don’t fit with business at the office. A power suit may be appropriate for some occasions, but it certainly isn’t casual. Instead, select wardrobe basics that are comfortable and functional but also help you maintain a sophisticated, professional appearance. Classic pencil skirts are ideal at the office and pair well with a button-down top featuring a jeweled collar. Since many offices tend to be a bit chilly, add a comfortable and utilitarian cardigan or trendy blazer. Accessorize with your favorite earrings and add a classic pair of eyeglasses

Daytime Casual Wear
On your day off, you’ll also want to wear casual apparel, but a day of running errands or catching up with your friends will require a different look from the one you sport at the office. Pick a favorite pair of colored skinny jeans to match a fitted tee. Add a cropped denim jacket in a contrasting color, and accessorize. A stack of bracelets and two or three vintage pendant necklaces in varying long lengths should do the trick. Grab a pair of bold-framed sunglasses and you’re set.

Thank you to Warby Parker for our guest post and HAPPY FRIDAY!
