Feeling French

I was incredibly excited when Aeropostale asked me to be a part of their VIP program! I really enjoyed  checking out their brand new fall launch (I know can you believe fall fashion is already here?!). I couldn't wait to share my look with you- I feel like it has a little bit of effortless French je ne sais quois.

I'm loving the brand's transition from logo-ed apparel to whimsical prints, trendy footwear & the sweetest graphic tees. (I obviously have a penchant for all things french; I bought a "Oui, Oui" & "Amor" tee)! Each season I'll be sharing some of my handpicked LPF approved favorites with you on the blog!

Flity Florals from Aeropostale

Aeropostale Tan Ankle Boots

I LOVE that they offer short length jeans (perfect for us petite girlies)! & these ankle boots will easily become one of my fall wardrobe staples.

Aeropostale has 30% off any single item of their new fall line until August & I definitely encourage you to walk in. I have a feeling you will like love what you see!

Perfect Pairings: Hot Pink + Stripes

Today was just too perfect outside not to step out for lunch. K & I like going to the park to eat our lunch and soak up some Vitamin D. I also like to recruit him to take some outfit pictures for me (think its bright enough outside? ;) I am obsessed with this fluorescent blazer- it's one of my favorite combos paired with navy + turquoise + mint!

Perfect Pairings: Hot Pink + Stripes

I'm sporting a few of my bracelets that are usually on heavy rotation. My sister Allie has an etsy shop- Keep Your Balance where she sells the perfect boho chic bracelets like the gold bead + cross piece I'm wearing (and donates 10% to charity!).

She is coming up this weekend for some sisterly bonding in Wisco and I absolutely can't wait!

Latest Lust: Beach Pants + Boho Bracelets

As you saw in one of my last posts, I am still a florida surfer girl at heart. I hate being thousands of miles from the ocean because I don't have an excuse to wear these awesome beach pants. They are totally psychedelic with their crazy prints + 70's style flares- but they look so comfy and boho chic paired over a bikini!

I think the image below is the perfect breezy-boho-cool inspiration for wearing them!

latest lust: beach pants + boho bracelets

The beach pants  + boho bracelets are probably two of the most perfect pairings ever!

Get the Look (L-R):

I think I need a pair just for wearing to yoga classes + around the house!

Easy Meals for Busy Girls: Tasty Crostinis

I am admittedly really bad at using up all of my groceries each week (especially all the produce!). Last night I was feeling extra ambitious and decided to make crostinis using up some of the fresh ingredients we had around. So maybe this isn't a traditional "meal" of sorts, but it was for us!

I love that crostinis are so simple to make yet can be quite a gorgeous presentation. We made a traditional bruschetta with yellow heirloom tomatoes, a strawberry & mozarella with reduced balsamic crostini & a carmelized onion  & feta cheese crostini (are fave- carmelizing onions is SO worth the patience)! I snapped some pictures with my Nokia Lumia 928!

Easy Meals for Busy Girls: Tasty Crostinis

Crostini: 3 Ways

The trick to crostinis is to mix around with the pairing of the ingredients; another fantastic combo is fruit with goat cheese and honey. A balancing of sweet & savory often makes the best combo! You definitely don't have to follow a recipe- use up the ingredients you have in your fridge!

Also, the best foundation for a crostini is a sliced up baugette, drizzled with olive oil and garlic and toasted under the broiler (watch it like a hawk so it doesn't get burned)!

What combos do you like on your easy-to-make crostinis?

5 Ways to Build Your Brand

I was very excited and flattered when Sarah, a contributor at USA Today College, reached out to me for a little Q&A about personal branding. It's crazy to me that this is something that's actually taught in school now, because it's happened rather organically for me and La Petite Fashionista. It's really a lot simpler than it sounds, whether you're branding a blog, a startup business, or trying to help yourself stand out amongst a pool of resumes.

Check out the article on the USA Today college site, and read a few of my tips below.

Tips for Building Your Brand // USA TODAY College

I've gathered a few of my favorite tips for building your brand that go beyond just starting a blog!

5 Ways to Build Your Brand

I've obviously grown a ton since starting my blog way back when, and the blogging world has come a long way too! I think one of the most important things to remember is to always be yourself and never burn any bridges- you never know who you may encounter again in the professional world.

I'm so excited for what is to come with LPF and so thankful for the support from readers + friends alike!

P.S. If you haven't yet, i'd be super appreciative if you did this quick 5 minute survey for me!

Florida Girl Faves

I've noticed that my Florida girl upbringing makes me instantly gravitate towards all things, colorful, patterned, and tropical. Though I may look a little out of place in Wisconsin with my Hawaiian print covered car seats, it's who I am and I wouldn't have it any other way! You can take the girl away from FL but you can't take the FL out of the girl!

These colorful pieces are calling out to my beach loving self, but I have a feeling you might love them too ;)

I'm thinking those pink flamingo drink stirrers need to make their way onto my non-existent bar cart and I've heard nothing but good things about Sun Bum Suntan lotion (how amazing is the packaging??).

Which is your florida girl fave?

Tips for a Stylish + Successful Garage Sale

Next weekend I'm having a garage sale with the boyfriend's family. (One of those perks to house vs. apartment living)! I have a ton of clothes, accessories & housewares that I'm anxious to sell and I've been reading up a lot on creating the perfect garage sale atmosphere.

Some of my favorite inspirations for a stylish and successful yard/garage sale are making it feel less like a bunch of "stuff", and more of an Anthropologie-like shopping experience. Anthro is truly the experts at making vintage and one-off items feel like they are artfully curated.

I've created this handy printable garage sale checklist which I will be using myself this week to make sure I don't forget any details!

Printable Garage Sale Checklist

Now, to share some of my favorite Garage sale inspirations- many of which we are hoping to incorporate into our sale (including offering payments with "square" to accept credit cards!). I love the idea of staging a garage sale just like you would an interior to give items new life and purpose. It's the little things that go along way- i.e. silverware tied up in ribbon, clothes hanging on a clothing rack, or necklaces hanging off of pegs.

"A Life Without Love is Like a Year Without Summer"- Swedish Proverb

Some weeks are just stressful. This has been one of those weeks! Needless to say, I'm so excited for a nice long, weekend and hopefully a chance to relax (and complete the magazine.. I'm so close & anxious to finish it-- you are going to love the new issue!).

Tonight I stayed out at my boyfriend's parents house and Kyle and I took a nice ride and berry picked around all of their land and trails while I sat on the back of his dirt bike. It's amazing what a little fresh air and  spending time with someone you love can do to make you change your attitude.

"A Life Without Love is Like a Year Without Summer"- Swedish Proverb. I couldn't agree more.

"A Life Without Love is like a Year Without Summer"

I've also have been trying to be less wasteful of the groceries I buy each week.  I don't know about you- but I am notorious for having eyes that are bigger than my stomach when I go grocery shopping and get over-ambitious buying food.

I whipped up this berry crisp last night with some fresh raspberries & blueberries that we're going to go bad soon. It was the perfect sweet treat and I had all of the basic ingredients in the pantry.

Life is Sweet

I'm getting more adventurous in my cooking and baking- starting to step out of my recipe comfort zone and substitute and swap ingredients to make things my own! I'm having fun on my journey to becoming a domestic goddess ;)

What are your 4th of July weekend Plans?
