Latest Lust: Beach Yoga

One of the most amazing things about being home is being by the beach. As a born & raised Florida girl (& Pisces!), I don't think I am ever happier than when I'm by the water. Our vacation so far has been so relaxing- a trip to the beach & pool, a few tropical drinks & the sand between my toes is just what I needed.

Now, more than ever I'm determined to try some beach yoga. These pictures are so inspiring to me- so peaceful but energized, and relaxed but powerful. Though I'll be heading back to Wisconsin soon, I think a lakeside yoga session would have the same effect!

Just as much as I love the idea of beach yoga- the wardrobe is what makes it. Beautiful bikinis, floaty tanks, & arm parties galore- I'm in!

What types of workouts are you dying to try this Spring?

What to Pack: Vacay

I am seriously having the most exciting start ever to self employment ever! Tomorrow my boyfriend & I leave to go to Florida where we'll be in my hometown for a few days, sneaking in some time at the beach, a trip to Disney, and catching up with friends. To wrap up the week I get the honor of standing by my bestie, Jocelyn (of Saucy Jocey's Kitchen).

Needless to say after the longest & coldest winter ever, this Florida girl is so excited for sunshine and warm weather and to kick off my entrepreneurial adventure with a relaxing trip!

Since all I've been wearing lately are chunky sweaters & winter boots, these are a couple of the pieces I'm dreaming of taking with me in my suitcase:

What to Pack: Vacay

Shop the Post:

I seriously didn't know I was capable of being this pale. I've been applying some self tanner to give me a gentle glow & hope the weather cooperates so I can break out my bikini. In FL I have no shame breaking out the Lilly Pulitzer, panama hats & beachy graphic tees. Sorry I'm not sorry!

I promise to keep you posted on my vacation adventures & new journey with LPF Media!

Latest Lust: Stylish Office Spaces

If you read my big announcement last week, you know that I'm starting my own social media management and consulting business, LPF Media! I am thrilled for this new opportunity and of course with working on La Petite Fashionista for so many years I've always dreamed of having my own workspace. For now, I'll be doing some working from home and some from a cool techy startup shared workspace. In the future, I'd love to have a creative space like these.

I've selected a few of my favorite stylish office spaces & some of the key pieces to get the look:

Stylish Office Spaces: Ultra Glam

Stylish Offices: Bright & Cheery

Stylish Office Space: Perfectly Preppy

Seriously though, how inspiring are these workspaces? I feel like I'm so lucky to be surrounded by so many creative and inspiring people and mentors. Maya, Katelyn, Sam & I have been working on growing our network of Midwest Bloggers for the past year and we were so excited on the amazing response to our new Midwest Bloggers site today!

A stylish workspace, is an inspiring workspace!

Ambition: a Love Story

This is not a Valentine's Day post proclaiming my love for my boyfriend (though I do!). Today's post is a love story about ambition. It's about taking chances, dreaming big, and doing all of the things you've always wanted to do.

I will be celebrating three years in the post-grad working world this month. But, in a few short weeks I'll be trading it all to follow my dreams of being my own boss. I am so excited to share that I will be running LPF Media, my new venture in freelance social media management & consulting as my full time job! Pinch me! I'm so glad I will never have to regret not taking this opportunity to see what I am capable of.

You see, I've always innately been an entrepreneur. I didn't realize it then, but as a kid, my lemonade stands, self-starter fundraisers to save the manatees & selling tickets to see plays I wrote starring my neighborhood friends.. that was my thing. Nothing made me prouder than seeing my ideas come to fruition. And I had a kids briefcase I used to carry around. What little kid plays dress up with a briefcase?!

Fast forward to today. I spend a huge percent of my free time working on the projects I'm passionate about- La Petite Fashionista Magazine, Midwest Bloggers network & of course- this blog! I also try to soak up all of the business advice I can get- every podcast I can get my hands on, every audiobook about entrepreneurship when I'm driving in the car & article about what's new in the world of social media. I am so excited to take it to the next level.

When I started my blog back (count em') seven years ago, I never imagined it would become such a big part of my life. I am so grateful for all of the opportunities it's given me, friends I've made, and support I've had from loved ones. It's so fitting that La Petite Fashionista has followed me throughout my journey of coming into my own in the kitchen, closet & career.

February Blogger Buzz: Celebrity Crushes

The Blogger Buzz is back. This month we're sharing our celebrity dream dates, just in time for Valentine's Day! I have to say this is one of my favorite Blogger Buzz's yet. This graphic from Ashley at One Fine Day reminds me of my bedroom in Middle School covered with *NSYNC posters.

  3. Meghan Anderson of Downtown Daydreams // My initial thought is Ryan Gosling, ever since The Notebook, I've been hooked.
  4. Lauren Felix of La Petite Fashionista // Ryan Reynolds! I can't resist a guy who makes me laugh (and he's easy on the eyes!)

GALentine's Day with justWink

One of the hardest thing about graduating from college and moving away has been being so far away from my best friends! Near or far, and no matter how long it's been since we talked to eachother it's always easy for us to talk like we were still roomies! In a couple weeks, I'll even be in one of their weddings, crazy!

I was single throughout college, so my Valentine's Day's were always spent with my girls- usually over a bottle of wine & our most stylish going out dresses. I'd have fun being the resident stylist and helping pick out outfits- meanwhile Jocelyn would whip up the appetizers and Katie would be picking the perfect playlist.

One of my most memorable Galentine's Days was the weekend before I left to move to Wisconsin.  That weekend, the girls took me to dinner at Melting Pot (my favorite). One of my girls conveniently forgot her wallet at home. When we opened the door to the apartment, all of my friends were waiting there to surprise me and wish me good luck in my new ventures!

One of my favorite ways to keep in touch with my girls with our crazy schedules is texting & emailing. I love the idea of being able to surprise them a stylish, thoughtful card to send them my love, all from the justWink app on my phone. I've already picked out the perfect card to send to them below for Valentine's Day!

The JustWink app has cards for any occasion from birthdays to Valentine's Day to just for fun.  The designs are stylish, user friendly and the perfect amount of sassy. One of the coolest features of the justWink app is that you can send the card through email, text, facebook or even snail mail! This solves the eternal problem of waiting in line at the post office trying to mail cards out! My favorite part is where you can sign with your actual signature & ability to attach a gift card to your message (it's the little things!)

Download the free app for your phone here!

Get social with justWink on facebook, twitter & pinterest!

What are your favorite ways to maintain long distance friendships with your favorite ladies?

Armed & Readi

You know you're a dedicated fashion blogger when you go out in the frigid snow to take outfit pictures! Admittedly on cold weekends sometimes I have to fight the urge to stay in my pajamas all day. My gorgeous Armed + Readi arm party was the perfect colorful inspiration for today's outfit.

I piled on my bracelets, a cozy sweater, springy skirt & camera tripod and let my neighbors think I was a crazy person for going outside in the cold! This has been a really eventful week, I can't wait to share some exciting news on LPF very soon!

Brittany, one of the founders of Armed & Readi reached out to me about rocking some baubles from their site and I of course, happily obliged! I am super impressed with Brittany and her co-founder's launch of Armed + Readi (read their story here). I love to hear about young successful entrepreneurs. The girls are always on the road for trunk shows so check the schedule to see if they'll be coming to your area!

Boyfriend Approved Valentine's Day Gifts

Boys are SO hard to buy for. Whenever you ask them what they want for a special occasion, the answer 9 times out of 10 will be "nothing"! With Valentine's Day only a week away, I figured I'd  take a note from Maya at Charmingly Styled, and get some help directly from the source this year.

I asked my lovely boyfriend for some suggestions to make things a little easier on us. While not every item on the list may be perfect for your guy- there's definitely some ideas to get you started!

Boyfriend Approved Valentine's Day Gifts

Gifts for your Guy: 1.Fitbit Force // 2. Bacon of the Month Club // 3. Beer Making Kit

His suggestions were: things to eat & drink (bacon! candy! beer!), a guy's choice date (sci fi movies!), a subscription model gift (birchbox man), a nerdy cool print, or a fun fitness accessory (I got Kyle a FitBit and he loves it)! I'm lucky that we both like sci fi movies and have a sweet tooth- it makes date nights pretty easy! If a way to a man's heart is through his stomach he'd also probably love these maple bacon beer cupcakes from the LPF archives!

What are you getting for your guy for Valentine's Day? A girl can never have too many ideas!

LPF Entertains: Stylish Super Bowl Party

My Super Bowl started off as a few appetizers while we watched the game and ended up as a blog photoshoot! We just had too many delicious dips and snacks not to document. Of course, I couldn't help myself in making some fun printable signs for our table too! I felt especially old when Kyle's brother didn't get my "I dip, you dip, we dip" reference (90's dance jam anyone?)

We ended up doing a DIY baked potato bar (which is super easy if you had a lot of people) & some of my favorite gameday appetizers + dips!

Our tasty Super Bowl menu was:

Need to spontaneously decorate for a party? Find items around the house to add some flair to your buffet table. Lucky for me I live in a house with two boys so we've got a lot of sporty "props" laying around to decorate with. To them they're just footballs, for me they're party props.. sigh. I also found this cool wood crate that became the perfect silverware, cup & straw holder!

I also did a recap of my favorite stylish social media coverage of the Super Bowl by lifestyle brands on the LPF Media site. I shared some helpful tips for connecting your blog content to engage readers during a special event!

5 Must Try Spring 2014 Trends

Spring, how much do I love thee? Let me count the ways! I don't care if its still 0 degrees out. I've had my eye on Spring trend forecasting! Right now (besides a trip to somewhere warm & beachy) I'm dreaming of these 5 must try spring trends; ankle strap heels, statement cuffs, pastel blazers, pink lipstick & floral pants!

The great part about these looks is that they're perfect for pairing back and mixing and matching with your existing wardrobe. Now if only we can get the weather to behave!

La Petite Fashionista: 5 Must Try Spring Trends
images via: 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5//

Shop the Post + Styling Tips:
  • Sam Edelman Ankle Strap Heels: These nude ankle strap heels would look fabulous with a pair of cropped pants or a full, flouncy skirt to show off the strappy details. The nude shade has magical leg lengthening powers (petite girl, win!)
  • Chicwish Mint Green Blazer: Pastel blazers in mint, peach & nude will be big again for spring 2014- pair them back to a light wash denim, graphic tee & dainty necklace for instant chic
  • Loren Hope Statement Cuff: Loren Hope makes the most gorgeous investment-worth jewelry pieces. This cuff would be the highlight of any arm party but look beautiful on its own. Dress it up, dress it down. You need this beauty on your wrist!
  • Wizards of the West Floral Pants: The key to wearing the tricky floral or patterned pants trend is to let the pants take center stage, pair back to a white or chambray shirt & neutral sandals or heels
  • Nars Roman Holiday Lipstick: I am so in love with this perfect pink lipstick shade from Nars, it's perfectly optimistic and pouty. I'd wear this with a simpler (non-patterned shirt) & just a coat of mascara!
What trends do you think will be popular this Spring?

If you haven't checked out the new homepage for La Petite Fashionista be sure to stop by (& sign up for our mailing list for a list of 50 free blog inspiration ideas) and my new sister site, LPF Media where I'm sharing my social media tips and insights for bloggers & small businesses!
