Affordable Date Night Dresses

Yesterday I talked about my ideal Valentine's Day date, but obviously as a fashion blogger- the dress is one of the most important parts of the evening! Date night is an excuse to put on a glam dress, spend a little extra time on your hair & make-up & feel extra beautiful!

I've picked out 8 of my favorite date night dresses- most of them are even under $40!

Don't get me wrong, I've spent many a date night in jeans & t-shirts or even my comfy sweats for a movie night, but a gorgeous dress somehow makes everything feel so much more special!

What's your go to date night outfit?

The Perfect Valentines' Date + Winter's Tale Movie

When it comes to Valentine's Day- it's the thought that counts. I'd rather have every day be filled with love & appreciation for eachother rather than just one day a year. Thoughtfulness & creativity goes a long way with me rather than fancy gifts or boxes of chocolate!

This year for Valentine's Day my perfect date would be a dinner that we can cook together (the perfect excuse to hunt through all of my cookbooks for the perfect recipes), a candlelit dinner with perfect mood music, and a romantic movie- my choice of course - and I'm picking Winter's Tale, since it's being released on Valentine's Day (2/14/14)! I also wouldn't turn down a trip to Paris ;)

Winter's Tale

Winter's Tale stars Colin Farrell, Jessica Brown Findlay and Russell Crowe and is set in the always enchanting, New York City. It's a story about love that transcends time & crossed destinies and I seriously can't wait to see it! I'm a major sucker for romantic movies- and Winter's Tale looks like a beautiful love story.

A Stylish New LaPetiteFashionista.com & LPF Media Launch!

I am SO excited to announce the launch of a brand new homepage and new venture called LPF Media, where I'll be sharing social media tips + tricks. My blog has grown to be so much more than a blog! I wanted a homepage that felt very "me"- the aesthetics and design as well as a place to feature all of the projects I'm working on! I designed everything using squarespace + love the outcome of the site and how intuitive the design was.

La Petite Fashionista Homepage

I'll be sharing more of my branding strategy and design for the site in a post tomorrow on the LPF Media Blog, but more on that later! Let me share with you what LPF Media will be all about.

In my seven years of blogging, I've been able to answer so many questions to help people start their blogs, grow their audience, and learn the basics of building their sites. It's been so fun to watch other bloggers and companies I've worked with grow in their social media space.

I wanted a site to offer my freelance services and to keep my social media tips + tricks on a site to keep La Petite Fashionista's focus on inspiring + affordable design, and LPF Media's focus on social media with style!

Join me in my new venture on twitter, facebook  & the blog!

Cheers to new adventures to come for La Petite Fashionista! Thank you for your support!

Queen of Hearts

There's something I've always loved about hearts. They've always been my signature. This heart blouse just makes me instantly happy and lovey dovey when I slip it on! I paired it back to a navy Kate Spade necklace I got for Christmas- it's seriously statement making- and some red lip gloss. I love the pop of color from a printed blouse- and it's a happy reminder of how much I am loving 2014!

5 Stylish Almost-Spring Denim Looks

I must admit- I'm pretty "over" the cold and snow. My wardrobe is tired of being covered up with a maxi length down coat that could double for a sleeping bag. I'm ready to start transitioning into Spring style. The keys to transitioning into the new season are: light layers, a punch of print, & brighter, bolder colors. If you live somewhere colder that means you're still rocking long sleeves and jeans but trying to make them feel la bit more spring-y!

I've picked a few of my favorited  looks that evoke the transition into spring & some of the key pieces to get the look along with your trust denim- whether printed, boyfriend style, or even a jacket.

5 Favorite Spring Denim Looks

What are your favorite ways to transition into spring style?

The Ikea Expedit Bookcase: 6 Stylish Ways

Today's post is an ode to one of my favorite interior design "staples" the Ikea Expedit- especially for the fashionista on a budget. I have one I bought when I first got my own my place that's become overflow for my wardrobe that's now been squeezed into a closet that Kyle & I share. It's fun to think about all of the purposes it's served since I first moved into my little bachelorette pad.

It's an incredibly versatile furniture piece whether used as a room divider, bookcase, tv stand,  bar area, room divider, or craft room organizer and I've rounded up a few of the most stylish examples of its uses.
Ikea Expedit Bookcase: 6 Stylish Ways
Get Inspired by: 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

I have a love-hate relationship with Ikea; Love all of the modern + affordable pieces / hate their terrible customer service (i.e. that one time my table came with 3 legs and they wouldn't ship me a 4th!). The Expedit is definitely a LOVE.

I've also found it's really great for organizing and containing clutter because it fits little fabric baskets in it perfectly! It's a great space saver for small houses and apartments. As you can see above there are a million ways to style it whether with books, trinkets or glassware.

Do you have any ikea furniture or better yet- the Expedit bookcase? What do you use yours for?

Try This Trend: Turtlenecks

Trust me.. these aren't your grandma's turtlenecks! This cold weather style is back & trendier than ever. Whether a slouchy knit or chunky cable turtleneck- they're an absolute wardrobe staple for staying warm and chic during the winter. I've pulled together a few of my favorite ways to wear this piece & some of my picks to try this trend for yourself.

Get the Look:  1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8 // 9

The key to keeping this look modern and stylish is by balancing a a slouchier fit turtleneck with a pair of slim fitting pants & heels. I personally love the turtlenecks in bright pops of color or paired with a colorful statement necklace to keep the winter blahs away.

Try this Trend: Wearable Tech Accessories

One of my favorite Christmas gifts this year was a Fitbit Flex! As a goal of having a healthy + happy mind, body & soul this year I was really excited of the idea of tracking & being more conscious of my health. This stylish little gadget tracks steps, calories burned & sleep and the app it syncs with lets you log food, water & see how your friends are performing that week.

I also gave my boyfriend one for his Christmas gift and we get pretty competitive. This week is our first challenge against eachother and we're both doing whatever we can to have the most steps in by the end of the week! (Now if only I could get my fitbit to choose outfits in the morning ;)

I LOVE the way that wearable tech accessories are becoming a true fashion trend. I've rounded up a few of my favorite tech accessory arm parties with the fitbit, nike fuel band & samsung galaxy watches! That's my arm party in the first images with the pink fitbit!

I'm a huge tech + social media nerd (surprise, surprise), so I've been following the Consumer Electronics Show this week to see what's new and exciting in technology & gadgets and wearable tech is a HUGE one. I'm also extra psyched to be a fitbit fashionista because Tory Burch is releasing fit bit bands in her signature colors and prints!

I highly recommend checking out a wearable tech piece, especially the fitbit. It's a great way to sync up technology and fitness and keep you motivated throughout the week!

Does anyone else own a fitness tracking device or smart watch- what do you love about it?

Glam Bachelorette Party + Free Party Printables!

A couple of days a go I shared a few of my favorite details of my besties bridal shower & also wanted to share a few fun snapshots, ideas & printables from our classy, glam bachelorette party too!

It was SUCH a fun girl's night filled with lots of champagne, pink lipstick and dancing. I made some fun printables that I'll share that helped decorate our hotel room and helped create a glam bachelorette atmosphere. The guests all rocked little black dresses & our bride to be stood out in a colorful dress!

La Petite Fashionista: Glam Bachelorette Party

We had a ton of fun getting ready for the night- my lovely and beautiful sister is the makeup expert in my family. So she did some smoky eyes for us, and everyone rocked some bright pink lips and kissy face pictures in true bachelorette fashion.

La Petite Fashionista: Glam #Bachelorette Party// LBD's + Pink Lips

One of the most fun things we did for the bridal shower & bachelorette party was designate a #hashtag - so guests could post their pictures from the parties on social media and the bride would be able to find them all later. It was so much fun checking the feed to see who had posted pictures throughout the weekend.

La Petite Fashionista: Glam #Bachelorette Party

I made goodie bags for everyone by picking up the most adorable gold polka dotted bags from Forever 21 & filling them with hot pink nail polish & lipstick, a mud mask & LPF koozie. The bride to be got the absolute cutest Pinch Provisions Minimergency Kit for Brides. She's SO excited to have it for her wedding day!

La Petite Fashionista: Glam #Bachelorette Party Goodie Bags

As promised, here are some fun glam bachelorette party printables! After all doesn't love a little bit of bubbly? The mini ones are meant to be labels for champagne bottles, but are equally as cute as signs to decorate the hotel room!

Vintage Kitchen Bridal Shower

When I found out my bestie Jocelyn was getting married, the bridesmaids and I immediately started brainstorming to create a bridal shower that was perfectly her! She blogs at Saucy Jocey's Kitchen and is a very talented cook and baker, she also loves a nod to vintage. So, we immediately thought a vintage kitchen shower would be perfect for her!

Once the theme came together the crafting, thrifting, and antiquing to find the perfect pieces to create the feel of a 1950/60's kitchen. I now have quite a gorgeous collection of vintage glassware, cake stands, recipe books & milk glass thanks to this soiree. We had of the guests bring or send a recipe for her to add to her Rifle Paper Co. Recipe box, which was one of my favorite elements as well as the Anthropologie apron. We kept the menu very vintage inspired- bundt cakes, quiches, chicken salad, sherbet punch + more.

I'm so thankful for such a fun loving group of bridesmaids and my always lovely hostess mama, to coordinate & DIY for the event, even though many of us are spread a thousand miles apart!.I can't wait for the wedding & to share more details of the shower in our next issue!

I can't believe it's 2014 already! I'm not exactly sure why, but I feel more excited than ever for this year. I think it is going to be a big year for La Petite Fashionista.
